bye-bye baby dolls

Avery is growing up.

She is trading in her babies for nail polish.

Mommy is sad.

Although mommy is a little happy because now she gets manicures for free.

Not that mommy ever paid for manicures before.

Pretty nails. And fingers.

Won't be long before Avery may have this monologue memorized:

But before we say bye-bye to the babies, I wanted them to make a debut on my blog, because they have been a big part of her small life.

Introducing...........

Short-Cut Baby and Cold Baby

Avery really never has been big on cute dolls.

Short-Cut Baby, for example, was a doll won at a giveaway at my ob/gyn office. When I brought it home, it looked like an offspring from the Last of the Mohicans. So she cut her hair, and named her Short-Cut Baby.

Cold Baby is one of those cheap dolls that you can bathe. Notice the plastic tag that is coming out of her skull. Yeah, super snuggly. She is named Cold Baby because she gets cold after she takes a bath. That's logical.

Avery's first baby was actually my doll when I was younger. Sorry I don't have a full body shot of "Big Bone Baby." When Aves was one, she carried this doll, that was her size, around with her everywhere. She called it, "Big Baby." Caleb renamed it, "Big Bone Baby," because she's not big, she's just big boned. After a couple accidents, and trips to the washing machine, Big Bone Baby's head fell off. It later reappeared at our annual "Crazy Bingo"/white elephant Christmas game.

Avery is my real baby doll. Don't grow up so fast baby doll.

My daughter used to give her babies the funniest names! Like Andadilla. Now, at least, they make more sense. Baby Mochila (baby backpack in portuguese) and Baby Blueberry are our latest additions.

I don't think anyone would let you pay for that manicure. Ha! Ha!

My daughter never got into baby dolls. She is now almost 7 so I guess she never will. She's all about the yucky, dust collecting stuffed animals though. :(

I bet she'll love American Girl dolls :)

Ironically of all my kids, my boys like the baby dolls best (take them for walks, 'read' to them, snuggle them, etc).

Happy POW!

I was blog hopping and came across this post. It's so funny because my kids call hair cuts "short cuts." Must be a kid thing.

Oh my!!! Gorgeous manicure . . . can't wait until my daughter is old enough to give them (she is only six months, lol). Thanks for stopping by my blog - I agree, only a mom of three little ones really "gets" what other moms of three little ones goes through!!! How old are yours? Mine are 4, 2 1/2 and 6 months :-)

I've been working on my budget lately....I think I may need your daughter to do my manicures. :)

It is hard for me to even imagine my two girls (now 2 and 4) ever outgrowing their beloved dolls. They grow up so fast!
