As for God...

It is so great to hear God's precious promises from the voice of my children. Such a reminder of how awesome He is. How perfect His ways. There is such faith in their voice.

Sometimes I get discouraged by circumstances...

Our friend, Layne, who is a father of two and husband to a wonderful woman of faith, Erin... he has stage 4 brain cancer.

My sister-in-law's miscarriage, followed by roof destruction due to trees giving way to Ike, followed by a car accident that left her car destroyed (all in a couple weeks time).

My friend, Christina, carrying her sweet baby Savannah (who has triploidy, with a 100% mortality rate), knowing that the Lord will bring her home when He chooses.

My dear friend and Caleb's cousin (who is responsible for introducing Caleb and I), LeeAnn, just sent their 9 week, unborn babe to be with the Lord, through miscarriage.

These things make my issues seem so minuscule. Yet I am reminded that God is mindful of all these things, and the minuscule things in my life. I was struck by a statement in my Bible Study this week, as we investigated the "possible explanation why God may not choose to intervene with a miracle in an earnestly seeking Christian's life. God often uses difficulty and suffering to complete His good work in us." I will continue to believe that God works wonders,

"You are the God who performs miracles;
You display your power among the peoples."
Psalm 77:14

Like a salve on my aching heart were Avery's sweet words as she said her prayers last night...

"As for God, His way is perfect. Psalms 18:30"

Last night Austin asked to pray over dinner. It was almost sweet enough to make me cry.
We too are surrounded by people dealing with tragedies and it is such sweet comfort to know that we serve a loving and powerful God.

Amen and Amen. I'm constantly being reminded of the truth in Romans 8:18, "I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us."

This summer when were trying to fly kites our young son said, Please God, we need some wind! And wouldn't you know it; our Heavenly Father gave us a glorious afternoon of good kite flying wind after his small prayer. I still choke up over that.

Thank you for your kind words, I really appreciate them. Blessings, Whitney

Thanks for the reminder that God has plans and unfortunately, they are not always in line with what we want.

God is awesome.

There are some things that we as humans may not understand but God has a plan for everyone. There is lots of death and distruction in the world that I do not understand, but I know HE is always with us.

Snippets of a future blog post....

We were praying tonight and instead of saying "deliver us FROM evil" my middle child said "deliver us TO evil."

LOL. But, I am always aware through my kids how much we are blessed. We are happy. We have him in our lives.

I recently had a to teach a lesson at chruch on rejoicing through adversity and at first I thought it was an odd topic but as I prepared I realised fully how much we have to rejoice about despite our discouragements.

Thanks for refreshing that in my mind honey.

Oh, please don't be discouraged by me! I count it a miracle that despite all the bad things happening in our life, we (Jon and I) still have joy and peace. I really don't understand it, but I'm definitely not faking it. I have plenty of sad overwhelmed moments but they don't last very long and "hope" never leaves. I never feel hopeless!

If I had time to take a road trip instead of clean, I so would ;)
Have a great weekend!

Our nightly prayer time is one of my favorite parts of the day. My daughter says the most precious things, lol. Watching Him work through our children is a wonder indeed. True faith is hard to achieve, especially in the face of difficulties and sadness, but our reward is great.
