I Quit

On our drive to Oma and Opa's

Avery: "Mom, can I have some more candy? I am sooo hungry."
Mom: "No more candy Avery."
Avery: "I Quit. I am changing this sign to say, 'I QUIT.'"
Dad: "Avery, are you being sassy?"
Avery: "Kinda"

The blog posts sure are less frequent when you are enjoying Oma and Opa's. Not that there isn't anything to blog about when you are here, there is just less to avoid... like laundry and dishes and monotony.

I could write long accounts of the scrumptious food coming out of Oma and Opa's kitchen- cookies, pound cake and homemade meals.

I could go over the details of Granny's wonderful Christmas lunch of baked ham, coleslaw, potato salad, homemade yeast rolls, fudge, and pluckin' bread. Or the bountiful finger food festival that we had the following night- the kids loved, no forks allowed!

I could describe the deliciousness of Aunt Leigh's homemade cinnamon rolls, pumpkin pie, snowball cookies, and savory green bean casserole.

And if you're not hungry, I could describe the wonder on their faces as they opened their homemade gifts, like LouLou The Owl up in the tree or the latches and locks board for cousin Wyatt.

I could go on and on about the wonder of watching your kids spend entire mornings playing with the dogs and random tools in the backyard, doing intricate watercolor caterpillar paintings, giggling heartily while Oma reads funny books, watching your daughter give her aunts manicures and hair-dos.

I could tell you about Caleb sharing the historical night that the Lord sent His Son to be born in a manger and offer His life that we might live. Or the wiles of a pregnant mom acting out 'Twas the Night Before Christmas her belly very much resembling the bowl full of jelly that you've heard about.

But instead, "I Quit." Just for a season. And I am not being sassy, just having more fun living it than writing about it.

very good! enjoy LOTS! soak it all in! I am trying to hang on to it for as long as possible.

we are very close to Olathe... you're SO good. We are in the Redlands area of Grand Junction... so blessed to have such a amazing view! Of course my my favorite thing about living here! Olathe has had quite a bit of snow if i'm thinking right. My hubby & his brother went to Hotchkiss last week and had to leave their snowmobiles five miles from their start... WAY too much DEEP snow!

hAppy NeW YeAr to you!
