Weary mom looking for rest

Hi friends and family. I usually try to keep it light. And funny. Keeps them coming back for more. Today, I don't feel so light, more heavy-laden, and I don't feel so funny, more weary.

I am sooooooo weary. This week has been so exhausting for me. I am weary of laundry, and weary of dirty floors, and dirty highchairs, and dirty bottoms, and dirty dishes. I am weary of ouchies and messes and nursing. I am weary of picking up choking hazards so my new crawler doesn't eat her sister's Barbie shoe. I need REST, and everyday I call Caleb, begging him to come home so I can REST.

I was so refreshed and convicted by Matthew 11:28-30 last night and this morning. "Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden (that's me, that's me, Lord), and I will give you rest (sign me up!). Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle (thank you, I needed someone to treat me gently) and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

Whoa! This is where I got super convicted. "Take My yoke upon you..." Yoke? That is an instrument used to discipline or teach. That does not sound restful. Yet Jesus (I am not questioning His knowledge of what brings rest) instructs us to take His yoke upon us and learn from Him, and then He will give us REST.

Check out the link above. Notice that a yoke bounds two together. Jesus invites us to be yoked with Him! He doesn't want us to be subject to a yoke of slavery (Gal 5:1), but a yoke that is easy and a burden that is light. And yet that yoke is an instrument of teaching and discipline.

Lord, help me to put on Your yoke, teach me and discipline me to spend time with you- that I may find rest for my soul.

I pray for patience and energy every morning. But I've forgotten this very important verse. I need to pray for discipline as well. Thank you for posting this! And I hope you start to feel rest and peace very soon.

I completely understand that feeling. I love that scripture. I know that I wouldn't be able to make it through each day without help from our Savior. Thanks for sharing that verse.

I hope you get caught up on your rest!!! Being a mom is the most exhausting (but greatest) job ever!

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Drop in anytime!
