There are things that make you so sad as a mommy. Like this...
(names have been changed to protect the ___)
Aves: Mommy, X and Y don't want to be my friends.
Me: Oh Avery, I am sorry, I bet that made you so sad.
Aves: Yes. Not a single eye was dry (She really said that. And I don't know where she got it. I don't say that and neither does Caleb).
Me: What does that mean?
Aves: It means I am so sad b/c they don't want to be the people that want to be my friends. X brought Y an apple and a banana and a pickle, but none for me. Y said I couldn't be their friend.
Me: Well, Avery, what did you tell them?
Aves: I told them it was because I was following them all day.
Me: I am sure that made you so sad, but some people don't like to be followed. Maybe you should tell them, tomorrow, that it makes you sad that they don't want to be your friends, and when they feel like being nicer, they can be your friends. Then go play with your friends that are sweet to you.
(I start writing down this conversation on a scrap of paper)
Aves: Mom, are you writing a note to X and Y's mom to tell them about my emotional breakdown?
Now I do know where she got that, thanks Caleb~

PRECIOUS! Oh my! The things that kids say.... thanks!
Oh I hate it when that happens--you just want to smack X & Y and tell them Avery is the best thing that could even happen to them!
I love the conversations you have with Avery!! she is only 3, hilarious!!
Oh how sweet and sad at the same time!
emotional breakdown?? tee hee
soo sweet :)
I don't look forward to those heartbreaking times with my kids. On a lighter note, she is just too cute with those comments.
I often wonder where Austin gets some of the things he says too. I finally figured out the other day that, "Nope, nope, nope. I'm good," is from a Veggie Tales CD we listen to in the car. That dialogue is heard in between songs.
Emotional breakdown? LOL!
My mother always said that you are only as happy as your unhappiest child. You really understand that when you have children of your own.
Precious and cute! I can not believe she asked if you were writing a note. What a day!!
~Elyse~
Oh, poor Avery! She sounds too sweet to be friends with them...
And bless her heart for having an emotional breakdown!
What a sweet story, but I am sorry to hear that she was having an emotional breakdown! What a big little girl!
You have to love those precious moments! My 14 year now likes to say "that's the way I roll!" whenever I ask her a question. *sigh*
Gabs was recently a victim also. I'm proud of you for blogging. I was to sad too blog. How are we going to handle this when they are older?
Loved Mandy's comment. SOOOO true.
oh and if Gabs is x or y, which is very possible, do let me know.
Oh, goodness....what an emotional kid!
My Addy is going through this right now too. Little girls, way to cute!
Oh, the DRAMA! That is so sweet and so heartbreaking at the same time!
... and if you are looking for someone to go beat some x and y ass, I'm your girl. Sometimes its nice to have that friend who can open up a can when the time calls for it.
You did a great pep talk, Mom!
Emotional Breakdown!! Now that is funny!!
That is too cute for words! She really is growing up... with her commentary. When she is older she will really appreciate your blog and all the memories you shared with us.
hey tyne!
such a great story, and of course i remember you! what a beautiful family you have! i'm so glad i'll be able to keep in touch with you via blog!
take care,
stacy
You are soooo good at capturing precious moments. I need to do better on my blog...
This just happened to Meg too. It's heartbreaking!
oh my gosh! The 1st half made me want to cry, I've so been there!
Then I cracked up at the end! Good for her for adding comic relief! lol
I never knew how much my heart would break on behalf of my child. Mostly for things like this- other kids not wanting to be friends. Ugh.
Your conversation, though, was precious. So glad you wrote it down!
Stuff like that breaks my heart. I just wanna give those kids a slap, but of course I never would.
Too funny about the emotional breakdown.
