Cultural Diversity- Avery Style

She is extremely witty.

She dazzles us with her little funny conversations.

"Lord please protect Margaret as she travels in Africa. Please don't let the lions eat her. And please help her to learn karate, so she can show me some," Avery prayed tonight as she went to bed.

Avery has been attempting new feats on the swing set- tricks and acrobatics. She is also learning how to be incorporate cultural diversity. She really loves different cultures, so when you read this, don't think of a young child struggling with racism, think of a young child embracing cultural diversity...

She is flipping and swinging and then says, "I did some of that Mexican stuff, like karate, like those Chinese."

She is also learning how to translate every word into Spanish for me. "Mom, do you know how to say penguin in Spanish? It is penguina. Do you know how to say hawk? It is hawk-o. Do you know how to say peacock? It is pea-ca-ca..."

We have really been at WAR in the White House. Playing the card game War, that is. It is a great way to teach number identification and greater than, less than and equal to. Avery gets it. She also gets the fact that she doesn't like to lose. So last night when we were playing, and she was losing, she would take her ace and put it at the top of her deck. In a muffled voice she would say each time she stuck that ace on the top of her deck, "I was just helping myself out a bit, don't worry 'bout that."

McClaine is laying on the grass and Avery is waving a stick over him saying, "Magic, magic, make McClaine die. Magic, magic, make McClaine die. Magic, magic, make McClaine fall into a deep sleep of deadness..." Caleb jumps in and says, "Avery, I don't want you saying that about magic and making McClaine die." She replied, "What? I was talking about dyeing his hair."

Oh my, she is quite possibly one of the funniest people I know. Or sort of know, rather. You must die of laughter on a regular basis! She is the cutest! Audrey and McClaine are both getting so big, by the way! And Reece is beautiful! So funny that she's your first with really dark hair.

Grey's was great-I must have cried three times.
