Urgent Request

Please read this. Do not resist the urge to stop b/c it is a long post. When you finish reading, I am asking that you please stop what you are doing and take a few minutes to pray for this family. Please feel free to link back to this post, and have others join us in prayer. We are asking the Lord to do mighty and miraculous things.

A friend of mine (and an awesome part of our church family- Calvary Baptist Church in McAllen, TX), Christina, and her husband Darin were blessed to find out that they would be bringing a baby sister home to Jaythan in January. For the past 2 months Christina has been very ill with excessive morning sickness. After many doctors appointments with her OB and a specialist, they received devastating news and are now faced with decisions no mother or parent should ever have to face.

Below is Christina and Darin's email explaining the news and the possible choices that lay ahead for them in the coming weeks.

I am asking that you join me in urgent prayer for Christina, the baby girl she is carrying and Darin. Join me in asking God to bring their hearts and minds to the same decision and that they are able to find peace in that decision. Pray that not only will there be a peace washed over them, but that God will continue to guide and protect them and that His loving arms will surround them with great comfort and love as they go forward with whatever is facing them in the future.

Praying Urgently,

Tyne

They would appreciate your encouraging words and prayers.

Dear Friends & Family,

As we write this email, our hearts are breaking, and we have spent several days shedding many tears. We are experiencing deep sorrow; we have many questions; and we never imagined we would find ourselves in this position. Most of you know that Christina is pregnant with our 2nd child, and we just found out this week it is a girl J. Christina has been very sick for the last 8-9 weeks, and we appreciate all the prayers you have offered on her behalf.

After several doctor appointments and tests, a trusted conclusive test result this week said the baby has a very rare chromosome abnormality called triploidy. Every cell has an extra set of chromosomes, typically caused by two sperm fertilizing the egg simultaneously. This condition has a 100% mortality rate, most babies passing during the first trimester. This condition is extremely rare and totally random. So far the baby is growing well and shows no signs of anything wrong. However, the key triploidy symptoms of an enlarged placenta and cysts covering the ovaries are present in Christina's body.

With this condition there are risks to Christina's health if the baby is carried further into the pregnancy. Our next appointment with the maternal-fetal specialist is next Wednesday (8/27), and it sounds like he will basically detail all these risks and make a strong case for us to terminate the pregnancy. We sincerely covet your prayers now and in the coming weeks as we are faced with critical decisions concerning our baby girl Savannah Grace and Christina as well. We have chosen the name, Savannah Grace, which means Abundant Grace. This makes us think of the story in the Bible when God told Paul that His grace is sufficient because God's power is made perfect in our weakness.

Please forward this request to anyone who will lift us up in prayer. We serve a great big wonderful God, who is capable of more than anything we could ask or think. Whatever the outcome, we are asking for God's perfect will to be done in all our lives. We ask that you pray for peace and direction for us and thank you for your love and support.

Love,

Darin, Christina, Jaythan, and Savannah Grace

P.S. You can learn more about triploidy HERE

That is heartbreaking.
I find it especially so since Savannah is due on my daughter's birthday.
I hope that your friends find peace with whatever decision they come to.

Hi Tyne,

I just ran across your blog while checking out the Sorrel's blog. I can't imagine what your friends are going through. I prayed for them. I do know that our Father knows what it is like to lose His beloved though. He is the God who understands our pain.

I hope you and Caleb and the kiddos are doing well.

sending prayers and well wishes. No family should ever have to make this decision, but I am confident in the not only the Lord's power to heal, but to guide and support them in their decision.

Lifting you all up,

Oh my. I'm so sorry to hear this, but I KNOW we serve an Awesome God who is More Than Able! I found another blog called Bring The Rain about a families journey through loss; it might bring your friends great comfort http://audreycaroline.blogspot.com/

May you be greatly blessed for being a blessing to others.
